MONCTON, NB - Charity is big business in this country. Canada has 84,771 registered
charities which together reported donations of $10 billion in the last
12-month period for which statistics are available. More than 23
million people, or 84 percent of the Canadian population over 15 years
of age, made personal donations to charities (and other non-profit
organizations) and were apparently ready to give more - provided they
could be persuaded that their money would be used productively.

NIAGARA FALLS - Organizers are gearing up for what might be a tough year for the Terry Fox Run.
"We've already been working hard distributing posters and
getting the information out there, knowing this year will be a tough
year, for all charities, due to the state of the economy," Les
Potapczyk, co-chairman of the Niagara Falls Terry Fox Run said
Wednesday during the kick off barbecue for the annual event.
