Despite the recent economic downturn, financial turmoil and job cuts, Canadians showed surprising levels of generosity during Boxing Week. Although consumer confidence fell in December to the lowest levels since the 1981-82 recession and polls showed Canadians planned to decrease retail spending by 10-50 per cent during Boxing Week, the same did not hold true for charitable expenditures. |
